Scholarships & Financial Support

We know that costs and funding for study abroad are major concern for students. Fortunately, with early planning, it is possible to financially prepare for study abroad. Meet with us to learn more!

McDaniel supports study abroad:

  • McDaniel scholarships and all state and federal financial aid (FAFSA) may be used for McDaniel Budapest trips and on all exchange programs.
  • The Dr. Debora-Johnson Ross grant is a new McDaniel program to help students of color and students with high financial need study abroad.

How the aid applies depends on the program:

  • Federal and state aid (FAFSA) can be used on affiliated partner programs but McDaniel scholarships and grants cannot.
  • No aid may be used on unaffiliated opportunities.

Without Limits Pre-med student savors lifetime opportunity interning at Chilean hospital Hands-On Learning

Rowail Khan’s pre-med internship in Santiago, Chile, intensified what already was her passion for medicine, but she also hopes it serves as an empowering example to other science majors that study abroad is indeed within their reach. The experience, through IES Abroad, was perfect for Khan, a Biology major with a minor in Chemistry. Study abroad can be more complicated to arrange for students majoring in a science because of lab courses and prerequisites. But studying abroad is important to Khan, so she used the three-week Jan Term and has arranged her semester schedules so that she can spend a semester at McDaniel’s Budapest campus during her junior year.

On Your Own Communication Majors Make the Most of McDaniel Budapest 14 Countries in 15 Weeks

Wade Bishop and Will Giles, both Communication majors, may have set a McDaniel study abroad record — they visited 14 countries while earning 16 credits each studying at the McDaniel campus in Budapest, Hungary. With few exceptions, they planned their own weekend getaways, scouring the internet for bargain flights and Airbnbs. During the week they went to class, learned to cook, played soccer with Hungarian friends and enjoyed evenings in local pubs and eateries — totally immersing in the rich culture of the eastern European nation.
