My Place

Before your first day of classes, you’ll start off with McDaniel Local, a two-day crash course that immerses you in the McDaniel community and your local surroundings in Westminster (and might even give you a chance to taste some of Maryland’s famous crab cakes). You’ll make friends, meet mentors, and form connections while pulling together with your peers to complete a meaningful service project.

Over the next four years, you’ll build on this foundation as you discover all the ways you can get the most out of your McDaniel experience

My place

Live like a Green Terror

The Green Terror is more than a mascot. It’s a lifestyle. Living like a Green Terror means tackling every challenge head on and using every opportunity to go after your goals. And at McDaniel, you can do just that. Because whatever your place might be, you’ll find it on the Hill. We’re a community of individuals with unique talents, passions, and personalities, all collaborating, supporting one another, and coming together to live the McDaniel experience to the fullest.

Play your favorite intramural sport, join a theatre or music ensemble, sharpen your leadership skills, pledge a fraternity or sorority, or get involved in service projects. No matter what you do, life at McDaniel is a 24/7 experience.

Fuel Your Climb

Aside from the countless pizza- delivery options, you can enjoy a variety of takeout spots and sit-down eateries. Get sushi from Asian Sakae, authentic Mexican from Papa Joe’s, and scratch-baked pastries from JeannieBird Baking Company. If you’re looking for coffee, Casey’s Corner is a popular meeting place for students and faculty where Starbucks is served.

The Hill is Our Place

Become an Insider

The best part of McDaniel is the people you'll meet and the friends you'll have for a lifetime.

Become Connected

McDaniel College student Kaylan believes in the power of connection on campus.

Varsity competitor? Casual athlete? Hardcore fan? All of the above?

You haven’t seen anything until you’ve seen the Green Terror take the field. At McDaniel, you can choose from 24 Division III men’s and women’s teams, each competing in the Centennial Conference. Beyond varsity athletics, fall and spring intramurals include 12 sports, giving you even more opportunities to join a team or root for your friends. And on football Saturdays, there’s nothing better than cheering while tailgating. (We’re sort of known for our unique drive-in stadium — just ask the Weather Channel, which ranked us among the top 10 tailgating schools in the nation.)

Faculty Athletic Mentors

On the Hill, we’re dedicated to supporting our student-athletes on and off the field. As part of our mentor program, professors are paired with sports teams to help team members balance life as a student-athlete, while identifying specific and unique ways to assist each team. In 2018, NCAA’s Champion Magazine featured our program as a game changer.

Tailgating

Lots of colleges tailgate, but nobody does it quite like McDaniel. At every home game, students, parents, and alumni park their cars (and sometimes their couches) around the stadium bowl directly overlooking the football field.
