Making College Possible

Each year McDaniel awards over $55 million in institutional aid. Much of this aid comes in the form of scholarships that recognize the impressive achievements of our students. When you contribute to scholarship funding at McDaniel, you are not only making it financially possible for many students, but you are also acknowledging the achievements of young people and encouraging them to continue pursuing excellence here at McDaniel.

Your Investment Matters

90% of McDaniel students receive some form of financial aid, and it is your gift that makes this investment possible. Scholarships range from $5000 per year to full tuition, room and board through our prestigious Dorsey Scholars Program. Our merit scholarship program allows us to recognize the achievements of our students in high school and here at McDaniel, propelling them forward towards a future of success.

"Recognizing excellence through scholarships gives us a distinct advantage when we recruit prospective students. We're fortunate that through the support of alumni and friends, we're able to offer competitive scholarships that attract accomplished students."

- Janelle Holmboe, Executive Vice President for Constituent Engagement

Every Scholarship has a Story Steve Kousouris '79

Everyone has a story. When you support a scholarship, the story of your  McDaniel journey converges with that of a current student. When Steve Kousouris ’79 decided to establish the Louis J. Kousouris and Peter J. Kousouris Scholarship Fund to honor his father and uncle, he knew he wanted to support a student from Baltimore City where his family is rooted. Sophomore Kobe Morrison of Baltimore, this year’s recipient of Steve’s fund, was given a chance to meet and thank his donor in person. We hope you enjoy seeing how their stories intersect.

Special Scholarship Programs

In addition to our merit scholarships, we are proud to offer a number of special scholarship programs.

Changing Lives The Legacy Scholarship Program

Valued at $25,000 annually, the Legacy Scholarships recognize service in addition to family ties to McDaniel. For the children and grand-children of McDaniel College graduates, the Alumni Legacy Scholarship recognizes those ties that bind you to the college. Honoring McDaniel's excellence in the field of education, our Educator’s Legacy Scholarship is for the deserving children of educators. And as a thank you for service, the Military Legacy Scholarship is for military personnel and their children who have served or are currently serving in one of the US Armed Forces.

Supporting Our County Carroll County Scholars

Since 1984, the Carroll County Scholars (CCS) program has awarded more than $10 million in scholarship support to Carroll County students attending McDaniel. Supported almost entirely by local businesses and individuals, CCS provides college preparation support and scholarships to all eligible Carroll County students.

"McDaniel has successfully trained teachers and administrators for over 100 years. The college also has a tradition of producing top educators, including the 2011 National Teacher of the Year Michelle Shearer. We are proud of this legacy and want to celebrate our commitment to educators by rewarding the children of elementary and secondary school employees with this scholarship.”
