On the eve of their graduation, McDaniel College seniors in the Class of 2025 were honored with academic, activity, and leadership awards. Prior to the event, the graduating seniors took part in the Arch Processional led by McDaniel President Julia Jasken.
At McDaniel’s 2025 Graduate Commencement Ceremony, 283 students celebrated the achievement of earning their master’s degrees, conferred from 22 programs. Two special awards were presented during the ceremony. One student award was given to a master’s degree recipient in the Deaf Education program, while a faculty award was presented to a senior online graduate adjunct lecturer in School Librarianship.
McDaniel College celebrates its 155th Commencement for the Class of 2025. The college's Graduate Commencement Ceremony is Saturday, May 17, at 11 a.m. and the Undergraduate Commencement Ceremony will be held Friday, May 23, at 1 p.m. Both ceremonies take place in the college’s Gill Center. A live stream of both ceremonies will also be available online at mcdaniel.edu/commencement.
Bernie Vogel, owner of JeannieBird Baking Company, received the 2025 Delta of Maryland Lifelong Learner Award from the Phi Beta Kappa national honor society at McDaniel College during the college's daylong Academic Symposium on Monday, May 5.
Two McDaniel alumni received Trustee Alumni Awards, the highest alumni honor given at McDaniel, during the Trustee-Faculty Dinner held May 2. The 2025 recipients are Jennifer Hill Bubczyk '93, president of Hill Development Group LLC and an active supporter of McDaniel’s Carroll County Scholars program, and Norm Sartorius '69, an acclaimed woodworker known for his fine art wooden spoons.
Update: Sana Askari, junior Political Science, Business Administration, and Arabic and Middle Eastern Studies major who presented Esheel, earned the $5,000 top prize as the first-place winner at McDaniel's 2025 Innovation and Entrepreneurship Challenge.
McDaniel's Academic Symposium on Monday, May 5, highlights the original research, scholarship, and creative achievements of McDaniel students, faculty, and staff. Plus, two special events take place including a Community Networking Breakfast & Presentation of the Phi Beta Kappa Lifelong Learner Award and a Keynote Lunch with McDaniel College Budapest Professor Gábor Molnár (advance registration is required for both the breakfast and lunch events).
McDaniel College announces Commencement speakers for the 2025 undergraduate and graduate ceremonies. Military and business leader Linda L. Singh serves as the speaker for the Undergraduate Commencement Ceremony on Friday, May 23, while Associate Professor of Counseling Simeon K. McDaniel College has named Peter Spartin '84 to its Board of Trustees. Spartin, who graduated with a bachelor's degree in Economics and Business Administration, is currently managing director for Globalis Partners, an affiliate of Butler Capital Partners.
A group of seven students from McDaniel College traveled to Annapolis, Maryland, on Tuesday, Feb. 18, for "Independent Higher Education Day," along with President Julia Jasken, Associate Vice President for Administration and Government Relations Jenni Glennon, and Social Work Professor Jim Kunz.
