Jessica Zavolta named head softball coach at McDaniel College

Jessica Zavolta has been hired as the new head softball coach at McDaniel. Zavolta comes to McDaniel from Bridgewater College, where she served as assistant softball coach. She is the sixth head coach in the 44-year history of McDaniel's softball program and only the third since 1989.

McDaniel College Director of Athletics Jeremy Shepherd announced that Jessica Zavolta has been hired as the college's new head softball coach.

Zavolta spent the last two seasons as an assistant coach at Bridgewater College and coached four years at her alma mater, Allegheny College. She graduated from Allegheny in May 2018 with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a minor in Global Health Studies. She received her master’s degree in Sports Management with a concentration in Intercollegiate Athletic Administration from California University of Pennsylvania in 2021. Zavolta also has experience as a physical therapist and spent six years as a volunteer with Team Impact, teaching young players the fundamental skills of softball.

"I am excited to get started and work with this talented group of student-athletes on continuing the traditions of the program and leading them to success both on and off the field,” added Zavolta.
