McDaniel students assisted and performed in “Spoon River Anthology”

More than 25 McDaniel students were part of the “Spoon River Anthology” production. Performances were Friday, September 25 and Saturday, September 26. “Spoon River Anthology” was directed by Julie Herber, who also served as choreographer, with the music directed by Alison E. Shafer. Theatre Arts major Flannery Bendel-Simso of Westminster, Md., served as the stage manager.

“Spoon River Anthology” is by Charles Aidman and conceived from Edgar Lee Masters’s “Spoon River Anthology.”   

More than 25 McDaniel students were part of the “Spoon River Anthology” production at the college.

Performances were Friday, September 25 and Saturday, September 26. Due to COVID-19, the performances were held outdoors in the Carpe Diem Gazebo and were only open to McDaniel students, faculty and staff.   

Through poetic verses and musical interludes, the inhabitants of the fictitious town of Spoon River, Ill., share secrets that have gone with them to the grave. “Spoon River Anthology” is by Charles Aidman and conceived from Edgar Lee Masters’s “Spoon River Anthology.”   

“Spoon River Anthology” was directed by Julie Herber, who also served as choreographer, with the music directed by Alison E. Shafer. The show included Shana Joslyn as the scenic and light designer, Stephanie Hyder as the costume designer, Kyle Engler as the vocal coach, and Stephen Strosnider as the technical director. Theatre Arts  major Flannery Bendel-Simso of Westminster, Md., served as the stage manager.
