McDaniel Weekly - September 22, 2020
If you haven’t already, it’s time to check out GTP...Green Terror Programs. Their events are like this semester...different and unexpected but in a good way! It’s GTP Recruitment Week so shake things up in your schedule, take a work break and check out one of the many fun GTP events happening during the next couple of weeks. You won’t be sorry that you did.
From Liz Towle, Dean of Students
Hello McDaniel students,
If you haven’t already, it’s time to check out GTP...Green Terror Programs. Their events are like this semester...different and unexpected but in a good way!
It’s GTP Recruitment Week so shake things up in your schedule, take a work break and check out one of the many fun GTP events happening during the next couple of weeks. You won’t be sorry that you did.
If I didn’t kill every potted plant I’ve ever owned I would be there on Thursday night at 7pm in McDaniel Lounge for Pot-A-Plant! This could be the beginning of something wonderful for you and a new plant friend.

Rowe Price, the Baltimore Orioles, UNUM online -- and that is just to name a few of the employers that will be available! Understand what it means to be Afro-Latinx
Join ODEI on Wednesday, September 23rd at 7pm for a needed, yet hard, conversation for the Latino community and the world at-large about what it means to be Afro-Latinx and how to have anti-black conversations in both black and non-black spaces. Co-Sponsored by HLA. Click here for the Zoom meeting.
From Monday, September 14th through Friday, October 16th, stop by the McDaniel Votes registration table near the Pub on the mid-level of the Roj Student Center. A representative will be there on Mondays and Wednesdays, from 11am-2pm and 5pm-7pm, as well as on Fridays, from 11am-2pm. This is sponsored by Hoover Library, OSE, ODEI, McDaniel Political Science Dept, and Carroll County League of Women Voters.
Also, the first student to email Amanda (agelber@mcdaniel.edu) with the word “warm” wins a blanket.
Focus on issues of injustice/oppression and environmental impact
The Environmental and Climate Justice Coalition will focus on how issues of injustice/oppression pair with environmental issues such as food deserts and water/heat shut off policies. This Coalition will work on these issues by identifying projects, events, and research, policies, etc. that address solutions to these issues in our Westminster community, McDaniel campus, and beyond. To learn more, attend the virtual info session on September 30th from 3:30-4:30pm -- sign up here!
First years: join this book discussion
Join the Director of the First Year Experience and OSE for our first Opt-In Common Read featuring the book With the Fire On High by Elizabeth Acevedo. Students interested in participating will read a few chapters a week and come together for discussions and activities. Books will be provided to the first 40 students! Sign up by emailing Amanda Gelber at agelber@mcdaniel.edu.
