SmartTALK features Yards Brewing founder
Tom Kehoe ’88, founder and president of Yards Brewing Company, started brewing beer with his college buddy back when mircobreweries were just beginning.
President Roger Casey will lead a conversation with Tom Kehoe ’88, founder and president of Yards Brewing Company, April 19 at 7 p.m., when the McDaniel College SmartTALK series returns to Decker Center Forum. The event is free and open to the public.
Kehoe started brewing beer with his college buddy back when mircobreweries were just beginning. The Business Administration and Economics major didn’t know it at the time, but what started as an experiment brewing British-style ales in his dorm would evolve to become one of Philadelphia’s first, most popular and environmentally responsible microbreweries. Yards Brewing Company has continued to grow since its founding in 1994, and recently opened its brand-new, 70,000-square-foot brewery, taproom and event space in the city’s Northern Liberties neighborhood.
Called the “Mayor of Beertown,” Kehoe continues to live his company’s “Brew Unto Others” motto, working hard, having fun and giving back. Come hear how Kehoe’s thirst for quality, community and sustainability is realized at Yards.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. For more information, call 410-857-2290. Requests for interpreters can be made up to one week prior to the event by contacting interpretingservices@mcdaniel.edu. Live stream available online at www.mcdaniel.edu/livevideo
