A special message from Dr. Julia Jasken, McDaniel's 10th President

Dear Faculty and Staff,

It is an incredible honor to begin my first day as McDaniel College’s 10th President. I am humbled to join a distinguished line of presidents who have so capably led our beloved college, and today I am excited to begin this next chapter with all of you.

I invite you to view my message to the McDaniel community.

One of the things that makes McDaniel so special is the genuine care of our campus community. You are the heart of McDaniel. This was especially evident during the last year as our faculty and staff overcame so many challenges to keep our students safe and on their learning journeys. Thank you for your incredible commitment to them and to one another.

Today is more than my first day as president. Today also marks the day many faculty and staff return to their offices here on campus. For those of you who have been working remotely during these many months, welcome back to the Hill. As we look towards the next academic year with renewed hope, I am excited to see our campus community come back together in-person to do the work we love.

I am working with campus staff to create a series of events this summer and fall to help us reconnect and to reinvigorate our sense of community, and I look forward to seeing each of you in the coming months. As faculty and staff at McDaniel, you have shown time and again that together we can do extraordinary things. Never has that been more evident, and it gives me great hope for McDaniel’s future. It is a privilege to serve alongside you as McDaniel’s 10th president, and I look forward to partnering with you to continue to advance McDaniel’s mission and our students’ lives.
