Join us for a weekend on the Hill. It's a wonderful way to connect with the community your student calls home! Meet your student's McDaniel family while making memories on the Hill and in downtown historic Westminster.

Schedule for the Weekend

Get ready for a weekend of fun and family at McDaniel College's Parents and Family Weekend 2024! This cherished tradition, which always coincides with the final home football game of the season, offers the perfect chance to meet your student’s McDaniel family while making unforgettable memories on the Hill and exploring the charm of downtown historic Westminster. The weekend will be packed with exciting events, activities, and McDaniel pride! Please note that all events are free unless otherwise noted, and locations are subject to change. Registration is required to help us create the best possible guest experience. We can't wait to see you there!

Friday, November 15

Resource Spotlight: Empowering Your Student’s Success!

Join us to connect with essential campus services and support systems designed to help students excel academically, socially, and personally.  
 

Open House at The Center for Experience and Opportunity

Discover how the dynamic CEO team is dedicated to transforming a student’s academic journey into meaningful opportunities for personal and professional success.  
 

First Year Seminar Class  
3-4 p.m. | Various campus classrooms  
Get to know the faculty, peer mentor, and students who make up your student's first year seminar class - an important part of the first semester at McDaniel College.

Sponsored by Academic & Campus Life in collaboration with the Parent & Family Council and First-Year Seminar (FYS) Faculty, join us to officially kickoff Parent & Family Weekend 2024.   
 

Dinner  
6:00-8:00 p.m. | Roj Student Center, Englar Dining Hall  
Swing by the dining hall with your student and their friends to enjoy a meal together! Our special pricing of $11.25 includes all-you-can-eat selections from all our stations – Trattoria, Americana, Smoke & Fire, Fusion, Roots, Clarity, and the popular Bake Shoppe! ​Pay as you enter the dining hall. Cash and major credit cards are accepted. 

 

Tote-ally McDaniel: Custom Bag Decorating Session 
8:30-10:00 p.m. | Roj Student Center, Naganna Forum 
The Office of Student Engagement invites you to a fun and tote-ally creative decorating event that allows you to show off your McDaniel pride! Unleash your artistic side as you personalize your very own tote bag with an array of paints, markers, embellishments, and stencils. Your fee includes all materials and some snacks to fuel your creativity and enthusiasm. Don't miss this chance to create a unique McDaniel keepsake! ($15 per person)

Food Service Information Session and Q&A

9:00-9:45 a.m. | Roj Student Center, Englar Dining Hall
Join McDaniel Culinary Services Resident Director along with the Vice President of Administration and Finance, AVP of Student Success, and Dean of Students for an information session about dining at McDaniel. Following
a brief presentation, parents will be able to ask questions directly of the panelists.

 

Connecting with Campus Leadership

Join President Julia Jasken as she provides exciting campus updates and answers your questions.  

 
CareerTracks
10:45-11:15 a.m. | Roj Student Center, Naganna Forum 
These concurrent sessions are designed to provide valuable insights and resources to support your student's career development journey, which we call the "Career Climb."  

  • Supporting First-Year and Second-Year Students: This session offers a broad overview of the career resources available to your student in their initial years on the Hill. We understand the important role you play in your student's life, and this session will equip you with knowledge to support and encourage them effectively. 
  • Enhancing Junior and Senior Students' Application Processes and Employer Connections: Your involvement is crucial in this pivotal phase, and we are here to ensure you are well-prepared to assist your student in achieving their career aspirations as we dive deeper into the specifics of application processes and leveraging established employer and alumni connections at McDaniel.  


Going Global: A World of Learning Awaits

Your student can embark on an incredible adventure abroad—whether for a few weeks, a summer, or a full academic semester! From our vibrant campus in Budapest, Hungary, to over 50 amazing locations around the globe, a study abroad journey will turn an ordinary college experience into something truly extraordinary. Join us to explore the exciting world of study abroad opportunities at McDaniel and discover how these experiences can enrich your student’s life!

Presidential Tailgate 
11:30 a.m.-End of Game | Kenneth R. Gill Stadium, Albrittain Suite  
Hosted by President Jasken, join other parents and families for an elevated view of the stadium while cheering on the Green Terror Football team in the last home game of the season. ($50 per person and includes food and beverage.) 

 

Fieldside Tailgate 
11:30 a.m.-End of Game | Kenneth R. Gill Stadium, Rembert Field 
Get close to the action and join leadership from the Athletics Department to cheer on the Green Terror football team! ($25 per person and includes food and beverage.) 
 

Now Hear THIS! 
7-8:00 p.m. | WMC Alumni Hall  
Encourage your student to invite their friends to join you as you sit back, relax, and listen to the Gospel Choir, Terror Tones, Jazz Ensemble, and Theatre students perform. It’s a wonderful way to experience a showcase of performing arts on the Hill!  

 

Rock the Hill  
8:30-10:00 p.m. | Baker Memorial Chapel  
Dance, clap, and sing along during a night of live music that spans decades. Jordan Greene, class of ’24, and friends will provide musical selections for an unforgettable evening in a club-like setting. Your ticket includes snacks and non-alcoholic beverages. A discounted cash bar with beer and wine will be available. ($15 per person. $10 for your McDaniel student.)   

Sunday, November 17

Interfaith Service 
9-9:45 a.m. | Roj Student Center, Ensor Lounge    
Dr. Richard M. Smith, Associate Provost for equity & Belonging, will lead us in a special interfaith service where diverse voices and beliefs come together in a spirit of unity, understanding, and harmony.  

 

Undergraduate Award Ceremony 
10-11 a.m. | Roj Student Center, Naganna Forum 
Join us as we honor our undergraduate students for academic achievement and leadership. Students will also be named to leadership honor societies and our newest inductees to the prestigious Phi Beta Kappa National Honor Society will be recognized.  

 

Farewell Champagne Brunch 
11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.| Roj Student Center, Englar Dining Hall   
Gather one last time as we say goodbye to our students and farewell to new friends at the popular Farewell Champagne Brunch hosted by the Parent & Family Council. The all-you-can-eat Sunday brunch features mimosas - champagne is complimentary for those over the age of 21. ($20 per person. McDaniel students with a meal plan can swipe their card to the dining hall.)
