The McDaniel College Parent and Family Council supports McDaniel’s mission as a diverse, student-centered community committed to excellence in the liberal arts & sciences and professional studies. Comprised of the College’s most committed parents and family members, the Council serves as an important advisory group for college staff and administrators.

Council members connect with prospective and current students and families, as well as support McDaniel’s philanthropic efforts. They value and provide resources that sustain and enhance McDaniel’s top-notch academic and co-curricular programs while strengthening the College’s reputation.

Recruited by an internal group of college administrators, Council members work to strengthen the partnership between the College and its families. These parent and family leaders bring expertise, resources, and a passion for McDaniel College, and their work and involvement is greatly valued.

“Families play an integral role in the success of our students and our Parent and Family Council allows them to become even more connected with McDaniel."

Janelle Holmboe, Executive Vice President for Constituent Engagement

The McDaniel College Parent & Family Council is composed of selected parents of current students who are invited by the College to join this distinguished group. These council members play a crucial role as informed and generous advocates, supporting McDaniel College's mission through active engagement and philanthropy. The College’s senior management team values these parent leaders as thought partners, relying on them for insights on strategic issues in higher education, and factors influencing McDaniel’s culture. Through their efforts, the Parent & Family Council significantly contributes to academic and campus life experiences for all current and future McDaniel students.

Meet Marcie Delahoz-Mason ’96 and Pete Mason ’98 Connection | Fun | Insight

Marcie Delahoz-Mason ’96 and Pete Mason ’98 were excited when their son, Luke, found a college he was excited about — which just so happened to be their alma mater. “I was happy that he picked our school; I loved my time at McDaniel and the college community, and I knew he would be well supported,” Marcie says. They joined the McDaniel Parent and Family Council in 2021 as a way to continue their volunteerism and involvement at the college. On top of getting to know fellow Green Terror families, they’ve had a lot of fun at events like Parent and Family Weekend and home game tailgates.

Meet Michele Curry-Creighton Involvement | Community | Volunteerism

Michele Curry-Creighton is the proud parent of Jordan, a student in the Class of 2025. Michele joined the Parent and Family Council in 2022 as a way to connect with the community that Jordan had become part of for her college career. As part of the council, Michele shared her input with the college and her experience as a McDaniel parent with incoming families. Her key advice to them? "Trust the process. Your soon-to-be college student will readily know what college feels right for them. The years will go by so quickly. You will blink and then graduation is here."
