I heard that the State of Maryland has issued an out of state public travel advisory. What states are included on this advisory and what does this mean if I am a student from one of these states?

For those students from out of state, please be aware that Maryland’s Governor Hogan recently issued an out of state public travel advisory for all individuals traveling to Maryland from states with COVID-19 positivity rates of more than 10%. As of July 31, 2020, these states include Florida, Texas, Georgia, Louisiana, Arizona, Alabama, South Carolina, Nebraska and Idaho.

Per the Governor’s advisory, if you are from one of these states, you will be required to either provide a negative COVID-19 test result that was administered within the 14 days prior to your arrival on campus or take a COVID-19 test upon arrival, which will be provided to you. If you are from one of these states only, and are unable to quarantine prior to your arrival, you may instead self-quarantine on campus for 14 days beginning on the day of your scheduled arrival window. Your classes will still be available to you online during this time.

While less than 3% of McDaniel students are from the advisory states mentioned, we believe taking proactive steps will benefit the overall health of our community.

If any additional states are added to the Maryland public travel advisory between now and the start of residence hall move in, these same testing and quarantine options may also take effect.
