I have been teaching college for over 40 years, 20 of which have been at McDaniel. Courses I have developed and taught include Drugs and the Mind: Abnormal Psychology; Psychopharmacology; Coping with Stress: Madness, Genius and Creativity; and The Hero's Journey. In these courses, I attempt to provide an interdisciplinary perspective, incorporating my clinical experience, love of the humanities and the desire to give hands-on practical experience.
I am also a licensed psychologist, and have treated people with a wide variety of psychiatric disorders in settings to include: Air Force installations (I am a veteran), the VA, and community mental health centers. My current research interests include applying Jungian psychology to the humanities, psychological analysis of film, and the impact of smart phone use on academic performance. I am originally from Baltimore, but have lived in several different countries and states. What I enjoy most is helping students grow, discover new ideas, and realize their potential.
