Faculty and staff celebrate milestone years of service during Seniority Recognition and Arch Awards Ceremony

The McDaniel College community gathered Nov. 14 for the college’s annual Thanksgiving luncheon and to honor 57 faculty and staff who celebrated a combined 925 years of service to the college. Additionally, the three winners of the 2023 Arch Award for Exemplary Staff Service were announced.

Seniority Recognition 2023

Mohamed Esa, World Languages, Literatures and Cultures professor, and Barbara Shelley M.S. ’90, senior online graduate adjunct lecturer II, were each recognized for 30 years of service to the college during the Nov. 14 Seniority Recognition and Arch Awards Ceremony. The McDaniel College community gathered Nov. 14 for the college’s annual Thanksgiving luncheon along with the Seniority Recognition and Arch Awards Ceremony. The college honored 57 faculty and staff celebrating a combined 925 years of service to McDaniel.

Additionally, the recipients of the 2023 Arch Award for Exemplary Staff Service, which recognizes staff members for outstanding service to the college, were announced at the ceremony.

Many well-deserved congratulations to:

  • Rose Blizzard '02, academic secretary, Psychology, who has been with the college since 1999;
  • Katie Patton, gift services and accounting manager, who has been with the college since 2017; and
  • Ellen Rugemer, director of purchasing, who has been with the college since 2002.

Seniority Recognition

Among those celebrating 30 years or more are Mary Jo Colbert M.S. ’93, director, Conference and Auxiliary Services; and Martine Motard-Noar, professor, World Languages, Literatures and Cultures, with 35 years each; and Mohamed Esa, professor, World Languages, Literatures and Cultures; and Barbara Shelley M.S. ’90, senior online graduate adjunct lecturer II, Graduate and Professional Studies; who were recognized for 30 years.

Recognized for 25 years are Mike Diehl ’98, head women’s golf coach, Intercollegiate Athletics; Katya Dovgan, senior lecturer, Art; Robert Kachur, professor, English; Paul Mazeroff ’67, senior lecturer, Psychology; Randy Morrison, professor, Biology; and Sandie Stempel, senior adjunct lecturer II, Physics.

Those celebrating 20 years are Kate Dobson, associate professor, English; Joe Jacobs, senior online graduate adjunct lecturer II, Graduate and Professional Studies; President Julia Jasken; Amy McNichols, associate professor, World Languages, Literatures and Cultures, and director, Global Fellows; Melanie Nilsson, associate professor, Chemistry; and Susan Webster, senior graduate adjunct lecturer II, Graduate and Professional Studies.
