The McDaniel College Choir presents “Spirit” in celebration of the College’s 150th anniversary. The performance is April 22 at 7 p.m. in Baker Memorial Chapel. Under the direction of Margaret Boudreaux, director of choral activities, the College Choir performs works celebrating the singing “spirit” of the choir throughout its history.

To that end, generations of alumni from the 1940s to McDaniel’s most recent graduates will join with current students in the College Choir, as well as The Madrigal Singers, McDaniel’s premier a cappella vocal ensemble, on several selections.

Invited alumni will join the choir for Barbara Baker’s new arrangement of the song “Spirit,” as well as on the opening “Alma Mater” and the choir’s traditional closing “The Lord Bless You and Keep You.”

Other diverse works to be performed include Mozart’s “Laudate Dominum” (from the “Solemn Vespers”), Stephen Paulus’s arrangement of “The Road Home,” the King Singers arrangement of “You are the New Day” and Aerosmith’s “Dream On,” as well as “The Small College” by Boudreaux and based on words written by President Herbert Hoover to Albert Norman Ward, president of then Western Maryland College, in the 1930s.

The concert is free and open to the public. Call 410-857-2599 for more information.
