January Scott Vaughan '99 receives Green Terror Sports Hall of Fame Award

JANUARY SCOTT VAUGHAN RECEIVES GREEN TERROR SPORTS HALL OF FAME AWARD FROM McDANIEL COLLEGE

WESTMINSTER, Md. – January Scott Vaughan of Chesapeake City, Md., is a recipient of the Green Terror Hall of Fame award from McDaniel College. She is a 1999 alumna of the college. 

Presented annually during McDaniel’s Homecoming, the Green Terror Sports Hall of Fame award is presented to a graduate and former athlete who has performed outstandingly as an undergraduate athlete and who has contributed to society since leaving the college.

Vaughan, who graduated with a bachelor’s degree in exercise science and physical education (now kinesiology), served as captain of the 1998 Centennial Conference softball championship team and was the team MVP in 1999. She was the starter at short stop for all 127 games during her four years, a captain from 1997-1999 and received a bid to the NCAA tournament. She had the 10th highest batting average, fifth most runs scored and fifth most hits.

A physical education and integrated arts teacher for Cecil County Public Schools, she earned the Simon McNeely Award and a nomination for Cecil County Public Schools Teacher of the Year. Vaughan has also coached Bohemia Manor High School softball and volleyball, Chesapeake City Little League and YMCA basketball. In November 2017, Vaughan earned a Governor’s Citation for her role in organizing Veteran’s Day programs.
