McDaniel alumnus and students inducted into Phi Beta Kappa

McDaniel alumnus George Harold Baker, III, '71 and 30 students were inducted March 31 into the Delta of Maryland Chapter of the prestigious Phi Beta Kappa national honor society.

Baker, a professor emeritus at James Madison University, is currently the director of the Foundation for Resilient Societies, a nonprofit organization engaged in scientific research and education, where he serves as the principal investigator on matters of infrastructure protection. He is also CEO of BAYCOR, LLC, a consulting company primarily devoted to preparedness for and protection against major electromagnetic threats to critical infrastructures. 

Previously, he directed the James Madison University Institute for Infrastructure and Information Assurance and led the Defense Nuclear Agency's Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP) program, as well as served as a member of the Congressional EMP Commission Staff. In addition to graduating summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in physics from McDaniel (formerly Western Maryland) College, he holds a master’s degree in physics from the University of Virginia and a Ph.D. in engineering physics from the U.S. Air Force Institute of Technology.
