McDaniel College Senior Named a Governor’s Summer Internship Fellow
McDANIEL COLLEGE SENIOR SIMI ADEOYE OF FREDERICK NAMED A GOVERNOR’S SUMMER INTERNSHIP FELLOW
WESTMINSTER, Md. – Simi Adeoye of Frederick, a senior at McDaniel College, was named a Governor’s Summer Internship Fellow and participated in an internship with Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan’s office through the Public Service Scholars program.
Adeoye, who is majoring in political science with a specialization in American law and politics, interned with the Governor’s Office on Service and Volunteerism. There, Adeoye led the planning for the Governor’s Volunteer Appreciation Day at the Maryland State Fair that took place on Aug. 26.
Adeoye was also responsible for reviewing nominations for the Governor’s Service Awards and attended program events for approximately 20 AmeriCorps programs throughout Maryland. In addition, Adeoye drafted press releases, created social media graphics and assisted in the production of a Governor’s Volunteer Service certificate.
At McDaniel, Adeoye is a peer mentor and resident assistant, as well as serves on the executive board for the Progressive Student Union, and is also on the Green Terror track and field team.
Adeoye’s future plans are to earn a master’s degree in public policy, as well as a law degree.
“I enjoyed seeing the role that government plays in nonprofits, as well as how much great work is being done by nonprofits in the State of Maryland,” said Adeoye.
