McDaniel College Theatre kicks off 2024-25 academic year with “Gross Indecency: The Three Trials of Oscar Wilde”

McDaniel student actors perform in a depiction of Moisés Kaufman’s thrilling drama based on the true events surrounding the downfall of the renowned playwright and author Oscar Wilde. Performances are Thursday, Oct. 3-Saturday, Oct. 5, at 7:30 p.m. in the Dorothy Elderdice Studio Theatre in WMC Alumni Hall. Note: the show contains adult material and is intended for mature audiences.

Gross Indecency Fall 2024

McDaniel College student actors perform in “Gross Indecency: The Three Trials of Oscar Wilde” to kick off the 2024-25 academic year for McDaniel College Theatre. 

Performances are Thursday, Oct. 3-Saturday, Oct, 5, at 7:30 p.m., in the Dorothy Elderdice Studio Theatre in WMC Alumni Hall. Note: the show contains adult material and is intended for mature audiences.

Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for students, seniors (over 60), active military members and veterans, as well as those with a McDaniel College ID. For ticket information, call 410-857-2448.

Guest directed by Peter Wray, professional actor, director, and theatre professor at Towson University, this depiction of Moisés Kaufman’s thrilling drama is based on the true events surrounding the downfall of the renowned playwright and author Oscar Wilde. 

Jaylin Smith, junior Theatre Arts and English major from Ellicott City, Maryland, is Oscar Wilde and Sam Durocher, senior Theatre Arts major from Baltimore, portrays Queensberry.

  • Ab Bullock, sophomore Theatre Arts major from Richmond, Virginia, as narrator and mayor
  • Leo Hill, first-year student from Catonsville, Maryland, as narrator and Wood
  • May Riekenberg, senior Theatre Arts and English major from South Orange, New Jersey, as narrator and Parker
  • Forrest Roca, first-year student from Columbia, Maryland, as narrator
  • Miriam Sall, junior American Sign Language major from Abington, Pennsylvania, as Douglas
  • Paul Steinert, senior Elementary Education major from Dundalk, Maryland, as narrator
  • Reese Weaver, junior Theatre Arts major from Brandywine, Maryland, as Carson
  • Madison Wise, sophomore Psychology major from Baltimore, as narrator and Atkins

Maddie Mobley, junior Theatre Arts major from Joppa, Maryland, is the stage manager.
