Other upcoming events include the Global Fellows application deadline, a panel discussion on the incidents of violence, discrimination, and hate towards the Asian community within the last year, and a presentation on how to foster inclusive environments by guest speaker Winston Ben Clements.

CASE students work on their Griswold-Zepp project.

The Office of Student Engagement and the McDaniel Anti-Violence and Empowerment Network (MAVEN), are co-hosting a variety of educational events related to Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM), starting April 5. We are proud to partner with the Department of Philosophy and Women’s Studies to present these important events. This year’s SAAM theme is building safe online spaces. You can sign up for updates directly from the National Sexual Violence Resource Center here.

I would like to direct your attention to a special event next week honoring the life of Heather Zujkowski on April 6th in Red Square at 7:30pm.

Trigger warning: Intimate Partner Violence

Last year, we lost a member of our community in a tragic way. Heather Zujkowski, a graduate student in our teaching program and the special education program, was shot and killed by her estranged husband at her home in Mt. Airy. Her murder was apparently preceded by years of intimate partner violence. She was a disabled Army veteran who worked as a French linguist at Fort Meade. She was the loving mother of three beautiful children. Her family describes her as a “kind, selfless soul that touched everyone who has ever known her.” Come together with us to honor Heather’s life and to speak out against sexual violence.

Last year we shared video messages with our donors and they were so excited to receive them that we want to do it again! Will you help? Click here to record your message of gratitude and share what you love about the Hill.
