President Jasken named to Power 30 Higher Education List
President Julia Jasken is included on The Daily Record’s 2022 Power 30 Higher Education List, among the most influential figures in higher education in the State of Maryland.
She is highlighted among the most influential figures in higher education in the State of Maryland.
According to The Daily Record editor Thomas Baden Jr., those on the list “are presidents and other senior administrators leading their colleges and universities, policymakers charting a course for the future, advocates striving to improve access and equity and faculty members on the cutting edge of research and the liberal arts.”
As the 10th president of McDaniel, President Jasken is a champion of both the liberal arts and McDaniel’s student-centered mission. She has dedicated nearly her entire professional life to higher education and most notably to McDaniel, where she has taught as an English professor prior to serving in various administrative roles. During her time at the college, she has overseen many of the college’s strategic initiatives, including the McDaniel Commitment.
The Daily Record asked President Jasken in August 2021 why she had stayed at McDaniel for her entire professional career.
“McDaniel is truly a place that changes lives and I have, especially, been drawn to the sense of community that radiates throughout our campus,” she said. “I’ve both witnessed and benefited from the college’s collaborative spirit and I look forward to having the opportunity to build and expand upon many of the initiatives that I have helped establish at McDaniel. My husband and I also chose to raise our family in Westminster and have enjoyed the connections that we have made in the community.”
