McDaniel College President Julia Jasken continues to be honored as a top woman leader in higher education in the State of Maryland.

The Baltimore Sun named President Jasken among the leading voices in the Baltimore area as one of 25 Women to Watch. She was recognized during a special celebration on Oct. 9 at the Baltimore Museum of Art and highlighted in their Oct. 13 Women to Watch magazine.

President Jasken has also been chosen by the editorial leadership team at The Daily Record to their 2024 Higher Education Power List, which comprises “the most significant, influential and respected people in higher education in Maryland.” This is the third year in a row that she has made the list and will officially be recognized in a special section on Oct. 31.

The second woman president in McDaniel’s over 150-year history, President Jasken is widely respected for her contributions to higher education and has been appointed through 2028 to the NCAA Division III Presidents Council, the highest governing body in Division III athletics, representing the Centennial Conference.

She also serves on the Board of Trustees of the Maryland Independent College and University Association (MICUA) and Board of Directors for Baltimore’s CollegeBound Foundation, as well as the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce.

Named an Influential Marylander and among Maryland’s Top 100 Women by The Daily Record, President Jasken received the Baltimore Business Journal’s 2023 Enterprising Women of Excellence award and was included as a “Woman to Watch.” She was recognized in April 2024 by the Girl Scouts of Central Maryland as a recipient of their Distinguished Women Awards.

For the second consecutive year, McDaniel College has been chosen as a recipient of The Daily Record’s Empowering Women Award for showing a strong commitment to elevating women in Maryland. Additionally, McDaniel continues to support women leaders in Carroll County through the Carroll County Women’s Conference, which was held on McDaniel’s campus on Tuesday, Oct. 15. The McDaniel Women’s Leadership Network was a sponsor of this event and several McDaniel representatives served on the conference steering committee.

On Monday, Nov. 18, the McDaniel Women’s Leadership Network is hosting a reception and interactive presentation with tips for how to build and leverage your own network from McDaniel Trustee Jill Mennicken ’81 at Holly Hills Country Club in Ijamsville, Maryland.
