McDaniel College has been recognized as one of “The Best 385 Colleges” in The Princeton Review’s 2020 annual college guide.

With this designation recognizing McDaniel College as one of the nation’s best institutions for undergraduate education, McDaniel is among only about 13 percent of America’s four-year colleges profiled and is one of six higher education institutions added for the first time in the 2020 edition.

“McDaniel’s recognition by The Princeton Review as one of the country’s most exceptional institutions of higher education in their 2020 edition of ‘The Best 385 Colleges’ reflects the deeply transformational nature of a McDaniel College education,” said Roger Casey, president of McDaniel. “This designation is especially meaningful because it is based on the comments and feedback of McDaniel students surveyed about their campus experience.”

In its profile on McDaniel, The Princeton Review notes that McDaniel “encourages faculty-student collaboration and the pursuit of an education through the lens of a greater global community. The college has ‘generous financial aid’ and ‘an extremely affordable and valuable study abroad experience available’ to students at its sister campus in Budapest. Regardless of where they study with McDaniel, students cite professors who ‘create a welcoming learning environment and don’t want people to fall behind.’”

According to Robert Franek, editor-in-chief of The Princeton Review, McDaniel was chosen based on data it annually collects from administrators at hundreds of colleges about their institutions’ academic offerings. As indicated above, the Princeton Review also considers data it gathers from its surveys of college students who rate and report on various aspects of their campus and community experiences for this project.

"We salute McDaniel College for its outstanding academics and we are truly pleased to recommend it to prospective applicants searching for their personal ‘best-fit’ college,” said Franek, lead author of The Best 385 Colleges.

Additionally, McDaniel once again appears on The Princeton Review’s “Best Northeastern” colleges list. McDaniel is among the nation’s four-year colleges identified as best in four regions — Northeast, Southeast, Midwest and West  — that are considered academically outstanding.
