McDaniel College welcomed the Class of 2028 — one of the college's largest incoming classes — with 540 first-year and transfer students during move-in and orientation events.

  • 20 states represented, including Maryland, plus Washington, D.C. 
    -Other states are Arkansas, Arizona, California, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kansas, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Texas, Virginia, West Virginia 
  • 6 countries represented:

  • Over 40% are first-generation college students
  • 269 high schools represented
  • 44 incoming first-year students are from Carroll County, Maryland
  • 34% are participating in Athletics

  • 39% worked outside of school
  • 16 first-year students are in McDaniel’s inaugural Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.S.N.) program

"To the Class of 2028, we have something special in common. Today marks the beginning of a new journey for all of us; one that we will embark on together. Like yourselves, I’m new here... But, here's the amazing thing — every single day since I arrived, I’ve been reassured of why I chose McDaniel. This place is truly special," Dean of Students Phillip A. Sullivan said to the Class of 2028 during Introduction Convocation.
