Winning student videos on “Making History at McDaniel” are airing on WBAL-TV (NBC, Baltimore) through a partnership between the College and the NBC affiliate in conjunction with McDaniel’s 150th anniversary celebration.

The contest challenged McDaniel students to create original 30-second video public service announcements (PSA) that answered the question: “How are you making history at McDaniel?” The students wrote, produced, directed, shot, edited and mixed the spots featuring McDaniel undergraduate students, as well as alumni.

The winners are Dakota Durant, a junior from Clarksburg, Md., Kasey Nelson, a senior from Denton, Md., Thomas Riedo, a sophomore from Chandler, Ariz., and Andrew Zimmel, a sophomore from Greenwich, Conn. In addition, all of the McDaniel students who entered the contest received a certificate of achievement and have the opportunity to tour WBAL’s television studio in Baltimore.

The winning videos are airing during Saturday children’s programming on WBAL beginning Jan. 6 through May 2018. All of the student videos will be broadcast on McDaniel’s student-operated television station.
