The Physical Plant is responsible for the maintenance and operation of the mechanical and environmental infrastructure of the McDaniel College buildings and overall campus. The Physical Plant consists of three divisions:
- Maintenance – the maintenance department is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repairs of building mechanical, electrical, lighting, HVAC (heating and cooling), plumbing, painting, and carpentry.
- Building & Grounds – maintains the exterior campus landscaping including lawn care, flower beds, tree and shrub trimming, sidewalk maintenance and repair. B&G also maintains the sports fields and golf course. B&G assists with furniture assembly, furniture/office relocation and materials distribution.
- Custodial Services – maintains a clean, safe interior building environment on the McDaniel College campus. Custodial Services provides trash and recycling removal, as well as cleaning of public areas including restrooms, main corridors, and lobbies. In addition, bathrooms in specific residential buildings as well as all Academic and Administrative buildings are cleaned daily, with less frequent service on the weekends, unless otherwise schedule for an event. All trash and recycling are picked up on a daily basis Mon.-Fri., with some service provided on the weekends. Weekend staffing model is lower than weekday staffing, however arrangements can be made for any specific needs or events.
