A Culture of Giving Back

Volunteerism is a core value for the McDaniel College campus community. It all starts at McDaniel Local, when incoming Green Terror students engage with the community with service projects that introduce them to local nonprofits and connect with peers. From there, many students participate in student organizations and honor societies that have volunteerism built in, plus there's always something happening on campus and in the local area for students to get involved in.

At McDaniel, you can contribute to a cause you are passionate about, while also gaining valuable professional experience with many diverse organizations that are within walking distance or a short drive away. With decades of community service launched on campus, McDaniel fosters involvement that changes lives!

Incoming first-year students got involved in a variety of community service opportunities in the Westminster, Maryland, community during McDaniel Local 2022. They helped out at the McDaniel Environmental Center, Habitat for Humanity ReStore, Westminster City’s Recreation and Parks Department, and the Boys and Girls Club of Westminster.

A Main Street Community

Westminster is home to many nonprofit organizations, whose missions range from health education to literacy advocates, from environmental activism to youth work.

Whether students want to gain extensive behind-scenes experience of working for a nonprofit, or want to get out into the community to volunteer for a day, we connect students to community organizations and campus organizations dedicated to creating meaningful experiences and improving the world!
