    Nearly 30 juniors, sophomores and first-year students have earned awards for academic achievement and leadership from McDaniel College. Students were also named to two prestigious leadership honor societies, Omicron Delta Kappa and Trumpeters.

    Top Graduate awards announced

    McDaniel College has announced the recipients of two top graduate awards. Sarah Grace Watcher of Westminster, Md., received The Joan Develin Coley Award for Excellence in Education and Claire Frances Roberts of Swartz Creek, Mich., was awarded The B. Jill Brooks Hodge Professional Development Award.

    McDaniel College placed in College Magazine’s “Top 10 Colleges Near Washington, D.C.” ranking. McDaniel is not only the top ranked small college, but is the only small college in Maryland included among such schools as Georgetown, George Mason University and Johns Hopkins University.

    Seniors honored with academic, activity and leadership awards

    McDaniel College seniors were honored with academic, activity and leadership awards during their 2020 Celebration on May 23. The awards ceremonies were held virtually with Provost Julia Jasken presenting academic awards and Dean of Students Liz Towle presenting activity and leadership awards.
  • Carson Marshall of Brookeville, Md., is a three-year ROTC scholarship recipient who earned a Bachelor of Arts in Kinesiology and a minor in Performance, Fitness, and Conditioning.

    Nine ROTC cadets commission as new Army officers

    Eight McDaniel graduating seniors and one graduate student from The Green Terror Battalion were commissioned as Army officers during a virtual ceremony on May 22.
  • Nicolette Brookman received The Argonaut Award for highest GPA of 4.0 in her entire completed course of study and The Edith Farr Ridington Writing Award for the best paper among those submitted by the various departments.

    Top undergraduate awards presented during Class of 2020 Celebration

    Nicolette Brookman, an English major with a Secondary Education minor, Veronica Johns, who earned a bachelor's in Spanish and master's in Teaching, and Ravi Patel, a Political Science and Spanish major, were recognized with the top undergraduate awards during McDaniel College’s virtual Celebration Day on May 23.
  • Daniel Adum, a senior at McLean High School in Potomac, Md., is involved in athletics, performing arts and student leadership. A state record holder in wrestling, he participates with his school’s government association and also dresses up as the McLean Mustang mascot

    Newest Dorsey Scholars named at McDaniel

    McDaniel College’s Admissions Office surprised five incoming Class of 2024 students by announcing them as the College’s newest Dorsey Scholars. The Dorsey Scholars Program is the highest academic honor at McDaniel and includes full tuition, room and board for all four years.

    Theatre Arts students receive national nominations

    McDaniel College Theatre Arts students receive national nominations for their acting work during McDaniel College’s Student-Directed Play Festival. Students must first compete at the regional level in January 2021 before potentially heading to the national competition at the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival in April 2021.

    McDaniel College’s Board of Trustees earns national award for exceptional leadership

    McDaniel’s Board of Trustees is a recipient of the 2019–2020 John W. Nason Award for Board Leadership given by the Association of Governing Boards of Universities and Colleges. The award honors higher education governing boards that demonstrate exceptional leadership and initiative.
