    Newest Dorsey Scholars named at McDaniel

    McDaniel College’s Admissions Office surprised five incoming Class of 2024 students by announcing them as the College’s newest Dorsey Scholars. The Dorsey Scholars Program is the highest academic honor at McDaniel and includes full tuition, room and board for all four years.

    Theatre Arts students receive national nominations

    McDaniel College Theatre Arts students receive national nominations for their acting work during McDaniel College’s Student-Directed Play Festival. Students must first compete at the regional level in January 2021 before potentially heading to the national competition at the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival in April 2021.

    McDaniel announces planned May 23 Commencement ceremonies for both Graduate and Undergraduate students will not take place. Although there may not be a ceremony, students who complete their degree requirements will still receive their diploma in June.

    Kemia Himon joins McDaniel College as director of financial aid

    McDaniel College’s new Financial Aid Director Kemia Himon has experience working in higher education financial aid departments, previously serving as the financial aid director at Arkansas Baptist College, a private, historically black liberal arts college in Little Rock, Ark. At McDaniel, she oversees the college’s financial aid program, including more than $40 million annually invested in grants and scholarships.

    Bailer Award recipient Kimberly Johnson earned a master’s degree in school librarianship in 2012 and obtained administrator I certification in 2019 from McDaniel. She’s a school library media specialist for Carroll County Public Schools.

    Important update regarding classes for the Spring Semester

    McDaniel College has made the difficult but necessary decision to move all instruction to an online learning format for the remainder of the Spring Semester. The Office of Residence Life will communicate via email the process for residential students to return to campus to gather the remainder of their belongings. All on-campus events through the end of the Spring semester are now canceled. Further information about Athletics will be distributed following decisions being made by the Centennial Conference. No final decision has yet been made about Commencement. McDaniel remains committed to our students-first mission.

    Important campus update about classes after Spring Break

    The health and well-being of our campus community remain our top priority. At this time, McDaniel has no reported cases of COVID-19 (Coronavirus). Out of an abundance of caution, McDaniel College will move all on-campus, face-to-face undergraduate and graduate instruction to an online format for a two-week period following Spring Break. This will begin Monday, March 23.
