    McDaniel College announces Spring 2023 dean's list

    McDaniel College announces its Spring 2023 dean's list, recognizing full-time undergraduate students for outstanding academic achievement. Highest honors are earned for a semester grade point average of 3.90 or higher, high honors for a grade point average of 3.70-3.89, and honors for a 3.50-3.69 grade point average.

    Political Science major’s Jan Term in Ireland leads to graduate school abroad

    Political Science major Gabrielle Gladden knew she wanted to go abroad for graduate school, but it wasn’t until a Jan Term to Ireland and Northern Ireland that she found the right place in Queen’s University Belfast, the oldest school in Northern Ireland and the premier institution in the country.

    McDaniel College graduates the Class of 2023

    Among family and friends, 368 bachelor’s candidates crossed the stage to receive their degrees on May 20 during McDaniel College’s 153rd Commencement ceremony. Legendary Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative journalist and bestselling author Bob Woodward addressed the graduating class and an Honorary Doctor of Journalism was awarded to Stan Stovall, retired veteran journalist and news anchor with WBAL-TV (NBC Baltimore).

    Ridington and Argonaut awards presented at Class of 2023 Commencement

    History major Stephanie A. Eckard was honored with The Edith Farr Ridington Writing Award for writing the best senior paper. Six undergraduates were tied for the highest cumulative GPA and were recipients of the Argonaut Award: Kate Rebecca Cramer, Evan J. Darr, Kyra M. Greenfield, Lyra Juliet Houghton, Grace Elizabeth Maglietta, and Eleanor Vivienne Tomkins.

    On the eve of their graduation, McDaniel College seniors in the Class of 2023 were honored with academic, activity, and leadership awards. Prior to the event, the graduating seniors took part in the Arch Processional led by McDaniel President Julia Jasken.

    Bates Prize and Mary Ward Lewis Prize awarded at Senior Investiture and Honors Convocation

    Stephani Xiomara Portillo Ordoñez, a Self-Designed French Studies major and Political Science major specializing in International Studies, received The Mary Ward Lewis Prize, while Psychology major Dylan Elroy Hughes was awarded The Bates Prize. Both represent outstanding members of the graduating class.

    McDaniel celebrates 153rd Commencement on Saturday, May 20

    McDaniel College celebrates its 153rd Commencement for the Class of 2023 on Saturday, May 20. The graduate ceremony begins at 10 a.m., followed by the undergraduate ceremony at 2 p.m. Both ceremonies take place in the college’s Gill Center. A live stream of both ceremonies will also be available online at www.mcdaniel.edu/commencement.
