McDaniel College’s spring 2025 campus events calendar is chock-full of art exhibitions, performances, lectures, and other events on the Hill. All of the events are open to the public and most are free. 

Carroll County Arts Council

McDaniel College is the presenting sponsor for the Carroll County Arts Council’s 2024-25 season of exhibitions, concerts, performances, and special events! Plus, all McDaniel students, faculty, and staff with a McDaniel College ID will receive $5 tickets for most Carroll Arts Center events and free small popcorn throughout the season.

Some highlights include:

  • "Romancing the Novel," an exhibition in association with McDaniel’s Nora Roberts American Romance Collection, Bowling Green State University’s Browne Popular Culture Library, renowned romance publisher, Harlequin, and Yale University Art Gallery, and speaker series in collaboration with Carroll County Public Library.
  • Other Art exhibitions, along with Music concerts and Theatre performances, showcasing McDaniel students and faculty, including the "Honors Art Exhibition," "Kathryn E. Wentz Juried Undergraduate Exhibition," and senior capstone exhibitions, annual end-of-semester music concerts, and performances of "Legally Blonde," based on the novel by Amanda Brown and 2001 film with music and lyrics by Laurence O’Keefe and Neil Benjamin and a book by Heather Hach, and a student-directed original production.
  • Events honoring Black History Month and Women's History Month hosted by the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
  • Lectures and literary events, such as the Bothe Poetry Reading with Maryland Poet Laureate Lady Brion to kick off National Poetry Month, Global Issues Colloquium, and Rembert Lecture in Enterprise Economics hosted by the Economics and Business Administration department.
  • A screening of the documentary “Counted Out,” co-sponsored by the McDaniel chapter of Kappa Mu Epsilon mathematics honor society, and McDaniel’s departments of Communication and Cinema, Mathematics and Computer Science, Political Science, and Sociology, and the annual McDaniel Cinema Showcase of student-produced fiction and documentary films.
  • College-wide events, including an Earth Day Fair, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Challenge, and Academic Symposium with McDaniel faculty, staff, and students showcasing their scholarship and academic experience, as well as both the Graduate and Undergraduate Commencement ceremonies and Commencement-related events.
  • Alumni Weekend and the Alumni Association Awards Celebration, which bring back alumni to the Hill.
  • Both the 1867 Challenge and Green & Gold Golf Classic to support current and future McDaniel students.
  • Common Ground on the Hill concerts and programs, including the annual Traditions Weeks.
  • Plus, Admissions events for prospective students to discover McDaniel.
