    McDaniel College moves to develop new master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology

    D’Jaris Coles-White, Ph.D., CCC-SLP, is the inaugural program director for the developing Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology. The program has received approval from the Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC) and is expected to launch in spring 2027, pending approval by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA) of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.

    Nursing faculty member receives statewide fellowship

    Jennifer Ort, D.N.S., RNC MN-N, assistant director of McDaniel’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.S.N.), is a recipient of a Nursing Faculty Fellowship from the Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC). The award supports the recruitment and retention of nurse educators in Maryland by providing grants to new full-time nursing faculty.

    McDaniel College announces fall 2024 dean's list

    McDaniel College announces its fall 2024 dean's list, recognizing full-time undergraduate students for outstanding academic achievement. Highest honors are earned for a semester grade point average of 3.90 or higher, high honors for a grade point average of 3.70-3.89, and honors for a 3.50-3.69 grade point average.

    Carroll County teachers who achieved National Board Certification through McDaniel celebrated

    McDaniel celebrated 20 new National Board Certified Teachers (NBCTs) who participated in the college's first cohort of a three-semester graduate course sequence, developed as part of a $1.8 million Teacher Collaborative Grant from the Maryland State Department of Education. All of those enrolled currently teach in Carroll County Public Schools and achieved an impressive 83% achievement rate, above the 71% current pass rate for National Board Certification.

    McDaniel College begins renovation on new Learning Commons in Hoover Library

    New Learning Commons combines academic deans and student success coaches, Writing Center, STEM Center, and Student Accessibility and Support Services, with library and information technology resources, under a central hub. The $3.6 million renovation, which is expected to be complete for the fall 2025 semester, is supported by donors with efforts underway to secure additional funds.

    Major exhibition opening in 2025 explores romance novels and their cultural impact

    Curated by Associate Professor of Communication and Cinema Robert Lemieux, "Romancing the Novel" features original cover art, manuscripts, publicity materials, genre history, and fan artwork. The exhibition runs Monday, Jan. 6-Friday, March 7, with a public reception on Thursday, Feb. 6, 5:30-7:30 p.m.

    Business alumni find success with partnership graduate programs

    While McDaniel College offers a robust slate of graduate programs, students can also enroll at partner institutions to propel their undergraduate career into the graduate realm. Two recent graduates — Jani Pierre ’23 and Brennan Rouse ’23 — took the opportunity to pursue accelerated master’s degrees using the foundations they developed at McDaniel.

Here, she shares insights on her new role in publishing an academic journal. From researching, reviewing, and keeping things organized, Berndt plays a key role in helping scholars achieve their dreams of publication.
