    McDaniel College names new Director of Athletics

    Jeremy Shepherd has been promoted as the college's new athletics director, McDaniel Provost Flavius R.W. Lilly has announced. Shepherd joined McDaniel College in August 2022 as assistant athletics director after spending seven years as the senior associate athletics director at Wilson College.

    Faculty and staff celebrate milestone years of service during Seniority Recognition and Arch Awards Ceremony

    The McDaniel College community gathered Nov. 14 for the college’s annual Thanksgiving luncheon and to honor 57 faculty and staff who celebrated a combined 925 years of service to the college. Additionally, the three winners of the 2023 Arch Award for Exemplary Staff Service were announced.

    McDaniel College introduces new Carroll County Scholars

    All 8th and 10th grade students in Carroll County are invited to enroll to participate in receiving college search support and a $100,000 scholarship to McDaniel College through Carroll County Scholars, a new program providing assistance to Carroll County students as they navigate the college search process.

    McDaniel College to add Women’s Wrestling

    McDaniel College has announced the addition of women's wrestling to the intercollegiate athletics program. The team is slated to start competition in the fall of 2024. McDaniel’s women’s wrestling program will become the 61st Division III program, the third Centennial Conference program, and the first Division III collegiate program in Maryland.

    McDaniel College’s Department of Music presents special seasonal concert

    Organized by Shelley Ensor, senior adjunct lecturer, “McDaniel for the Holidays” features McDaniel students, alumni, faculty, and staff, as well as community members, in a program celebrating the holiday season. The free performance takes place Sunday, Nov. 12, at 7 p.m. in Baker Memorial Chapel.

    Current seniors, juniors, and sophomores honored with academic and leadership awards

    Current seniors, juniors, and sophomores were recognized at the Undergraduate Awards Ceremony for earning awards for academic achievement and leadership during the 2022-23 academic year. Students were also named to prestigious academic and leadership honor societies, including Alpha Lambda Delta, Phi Beta Kappa, Omicron Delta Kappa, and Trumpeters.

    Student-faculty summer research inspires landscape painting exhibition on view in Rice Gallery

    “Light and Color, Space and Place: Landscape Painting on Site and in the Studio” runs Tuesday, Nov. 7-Friday, Dec. 8, with an opening reception on Thursday, Nov. 9, in the college’s Esther Prangley Rice Gallery.

    Psyche Williams-Forson, a culinary historian and author of “Eating While Black: Food Shaming and Race in America,” winner of the 2023 James Beard Foundation Book Award, speaks at McDaniel College’s annual Ridington Lecture on Tuesday, Nov. 7, at 7:30 p.m., in McDaniel Hall's Coley Rice Lounge. The lecture, titled “Food, Food Everywhere – From Vexed Conversations to Food Shaming,” is free and open to the public.
