    McDaniel College hosts inaugural Black History Month Convocation

    The inaugural Black History Month Convocation at McDaniel College features human rights activist Rev. Nontombi Naomi Tutu on Wednesday, Feb. 16. The hour-long event takes place at 6 p.m. (doors open at 5:45 p.m.) in WMC Alumni Hall and is free and open to the public. A livestream via Zoom will also be available through advance registration.

    Save the date! The inauguration ceremony for Dr. Julia Jasken, McDaniel College’s tenth president, will occur on Saturday, April 9, at 3:30 p.m., in Gill Center. A series of events in celebration of this historic event are scheduled for Thursday, April 7, and Friday, April 8.

    McDaniel College welcomes 10th President, Dr. Julia Jasken

    Dr. Julia Jasken becomes McDaniel College’s 10th president on June 1, 2021. She has dedicated nearly her entire professional life to higher education and most notably to McDaniel, beginning in the classroom in 2003 as an English professor. Dr. Jasken has served in various administrative roles at the college, most recently as executive vice president and provost, overseeing academic and student life.

    McDaniel College Board of Trustees establishes the Dr. Roger Casey and Robyn Allers Impact Fund

    The McDaniel College Board of Trustees has announced the establishment of the Dr. Roger Casey and Robyn Allers Impact Fund to provide financial support to first-generation college students. This new fund, supported by friends of McDaniel College, creates grants for first-generation students at McDaniel to fund expenses related to study abroad, internships, and/or research opportunities.

    Commencement speakers announced for McDaniel's 2020 and 2021 ceremonies on Saturday, May 22

    McDaniel College announces Commencement speakers and honorary degree recipients for both the 2020 and 2021 ceremonies to be held on Saturday, May 22. The 2020 Commencement Speaker is McDaniel College President Roger N. Casey, the college’s ninth president who is retiring at the end of the 2020-2021 academic year. The 2021 Commencement Speakers are Mary Lynn Durham and Bill Roj, both 1970 alumni, who supported the renovation of the college’s new Roj Student Center. The college also shares additional details about Commencement and Commencement-related events.
