    Graduate program for reading specialists offers new online dyslexia certification

    McDaniel College’s Reading Specialist: Literacy Leadership master’s degree program has partnered with Wilson Language Training to offer a new dyslexia specialization, which includes Level I Certification in the Wilson Reading System® (WRS). McDaniel is the first higher education institution in Maryland to partner with Wilson to offer this online certification.

    Rising junior Jessia Avila, who aspires to have a career in public service, has been selected as an inaugural Key into Public Service Scholar by The Phi Beta Kappa Society and as a Governor’s Summer Internship Program Fellow through Maryland Public Service Scholars Programs.

    Graduating Cinema students produce original works as the culmination of their studies at McDaniel. For the Spring 2020 semester, the students had the opportunity to either write an original screenplay or produce a 20-minute film.

    Now on their way to doctorate programs, medical school, high school classrooms and careers that span wildlife preservation, agriculture production and forensics, McDaniel’s 2020 Biology graduates all learned valuable skills and life lessons while immersing in the capstone research that is the culmination of their studies in their major.

    New Workforce Development Scholarships are available for new Fall 2020 graduate students applying for enrollment in an eligible master’s degree program, including Teaching, Human Resources Management, Public Administration and Policy, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, School Counseling and Data Analytics. Scholarships provide free tuition for the Fall 2020 semester and $1,000 for Spring 2021 semester.

    McDaniel College has announced the recipients of two top graduate awards. Sarah Grace Watcher of Westminster, Md., received The Joan Develin Coley Award for Excellence in Education and Claire Frances Roberts of Swartz Creek, Mich., was awarded The B. Jill Brooks Hodge Professional Development Award.
