Learning Online at McDaniel

At McDaniel College, our undergraduate students come to campus to attend class as residential or commuter students. Students attend classes in physical spaces where they interact face-to-face with faculty and their peers. On occasion (usually in the summer), undergraduate students also have the option to enroll in an online or hybrid course, where the course is in part or in total delivered in a virtual classroom through our learning management system--Blackboard Learn ®.

Most of our graduate programs are offered as Online or Hybrid programs, where most or a large portion of the courses are delivered in a virtual classroom using Blackboard Learn ®. For more information about how online, hybrid and synchronous and asynchronous courses and programs are delivered, see our distance education definitions.

Graduate Program Formats

Online graduate programs deliver all classes virtually, using both asynchronous and synchronous learning. Hybrid graduate programs use a combination of online and face-to-face instruction. In a hybrid program or course, students are required to come to campus or an approved location for 50% or more of the program or course.*  On-campus graduate programs require students to attend classes in physical spaces where they interact face-to-face with faculty and their peers. Some limited courses within these programs may be offered online.

*The Hybrid Data Analytics M.S. program includes a residency requirement of 3 full days on campus each semester.
