    McDaniel College Theatre kicks off 2024-25 academic year with “Gross Indecency: The Three Trials of Oscar Wilde”

    McDaniel student actors perform in a depiction of Moisés Kaufman’s thrilling drama based on the true events surrounding the downfall of the renowned playwright and author Oscar Wilde. Performances are Thursday, Oct. 3-Saturday, Oct. 5, at 7:30 p.m. in the Dorothy Elderdice Studio Theatre in WMC Alumni Hall. Note: the show contains adult material and is intended for mature audiences.

    McDaniel hosts annual fall lectures featuring prominent professors

    The annual Phi Beta Kappa lecture presents "Slavery in Two Worlds: East Africans in the Atlantic and Indian Ocean” by University of Virginia professor Kristina Richardson on Tuesday, Oct. 1. The Holloway Lecture features bestselling author and humorist Gina Barreca from the University of Connecticut on Thursday, Oct. 3. Both events take place at 7:30 p.m. in McDaniel Hall's Coley Rice Lounge and are free and open to the public.

    Students support global and local communities in the Student-Faculty Collaborative Summer Research Program

    Every summer, McDaniel students make strides in their academic and professional savvy with the donor-funded Student-Faculty Collaborative Summer Research Program. By engaging with pressing issues — like contributing data to a global study on insect declines or surveying Maryland high school educators about current challenges — they gain skills that serve their communities now and in the future.

    A summer of research discoveries in American Sign Language, Theatre, and Accounting

    Inspired by their majors, two students in the Student-Faculty Collaborative Summer Research Program launched studies in underrepresented fields. With guidance from Lecturer and Director of First-Year Composition Alexander Champoux-Crowley, the students investigated theatre funding and interpreters in secondary education.

    McDaniel College names new Dean of Students

    Phillip A. Sullivan, Ph.D., who most recently served as associate dean of campus life and director of residential education and services at Oxford College of Emory University, has been selected as McDaniel’s new dean of students following a national search. He assumes the role at McDaniel effective Aug. 19, 2024.

    Education graduates recognized as Teachers of Promise

    Seven McDaniel bachelor’s degree recipients who majored in Elementary Education or minored in PreK-12 or Secondary Education and one graduate from the accelerated bachelor’s to master’s five-year Secondary Education/M.S. in Teaching were recognized as Teachers of Promise by the Maryland State Department of Education.

    McDaniel College announces its spring 2024 dean's list, recognizing full-time undergraduate students for outstanding academic achievement. Highest honors are earned for a semester grade point average of 3.90 or higher, high honors for a grade point average of 3.70-3.89, and honors for a 3.50-3.69 grade point average.
