    Welcome to the Hill, Class of 2028!

    McDaniel College welcomed the Class of 2028 — one of the college's largest incoming classes — with 540 first-year and transfer students during move-in and orientation events.

    McDaniel College welcomes the newest class of Green Terrors to the Hill with 540 first-year and transfer students, one of the college's largest incoming classes. New student orientation for the Class of 2028 kicks off at move-in on Thursday, Aug. 22.

    Students support global and local communities in the Student-Faculty Collaborative Summer Research Program

    Every summer, McDaniel students make strides in their academic and professional savvy with the donor-funded Student-Faculty Collaborative Summer Research Program. By engaging with pressing issues — like contributing data to a global study on insect declines or surveying Maryland high school educators about current challenges — they gain skills that serve their communities now and in the future.

    A summer of research discoveries in American Sign Language, Theatre, and Accounting

    Inspired by their majors, two students in the Student-Faculty Collaborative Summer Research Program launched studies in underrepresented fields. With guidance from Lecturer and Director of First-Year Composition Alexander Champoux-Crowley, the students investigated theatre funding and interpreters in secondary education.

    McDaniel College is included in longtime admissions professional Peter Pitts latest book, "Cool Stuff at Small Colleges." The McDaniel Commitment, National Security Fellows, and McDaniel College Budapest; new majors launched since fall 2020, including Writing and Publishing, along with our Popular Literature minor; plus, the McDaniel Environmental Center are highlighted.

    Jessica Zavolta named head softball coach at McDaniel College

    Jessica Zavolta has been hired as the new head softball coach at McDaniel. Zavolta comes to McDaniel from Bridgewater College, where she served as assistant softball coach. She is the sixth head coach in the 44-year history of McDaniel's softball program and only the third since 1989.

    McDaniel’s Alpha Sigma Tau sorority wins national awards

    McDaniel College’s Epsilon Nu chapter of the Alpha Sigma Tau national sorority was recognized with the Growth Excellence and the Retention Excellence awards for membership recruitment and retention during the sorority’s 45th national convention. Since its establishment at McDaniel in 2012, Epsilon Nu has initiated more than 200 members.

    McDaniel College announces plans to develop master's degree in Occupational Therapy

    Cathy Felmlee Shanholtz, OTD, M.Ed., OTR/L, CLA, joins McDaniel as the inaugural program director for the developing Master of Science in Occupational Therapy. The program, which has received approval from the Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC), is expected to begin in summer 2026, pending approval by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE).
